We Have a Stunning Community

Waey's Communities and Social Club: The war in Sudan has produced a bitter reality, the most obvious manifestation of which is the asylum and displacement of huge numbers of Sudanese in search of safety and stability. Unfortunately, their conditions in the asylum and displacement sites were extremely harsh. They came carrying heavy burdens of pain, loss and shock, losing their means of livelihood and being destitute, fleeing to an unknown and dark future.

With the inability to support internally displaced people due to the spread of the war and the multiplicity of security threats to humanitarian work, Waey Organization decided to quickly help those refugees it could reach. And due of the organization's previous experience focused on building grassroots social movements, it moved towards building models for organized, cohesive, supportive refugee communities that are capable of influencing peace issues.

On this approach, Waey established three models of these communities:

  1. Waey Women's Community in Keriandango Refugee Camp in Uganda
  2. Waey's Youth Community in Keriandango Refugee Camp in Uganda
  3. Waey's Youth Community in the capital of Uganda, Kampala

Waey also established for the same purpose

  1. A volleyball club at its headquarters in Kampala.
  2. A cinema club at its headquarters in Kampala.
Waey also seeks to establish a theater club, a music and singing club, and peace clubs for children The five models that were established are models that aim to strengthen the bonds between Sudanese refugees, overcome the challenges they face, represent them, and demand their rights. They also aim primarily to mend the fabric The social fabric damaged by war, rebuilding the common conscience, peaceful coexistence and pressure to bring peace to Sudan
